FAQ

It depends on your practicing habits. I will teach you how to make the most of your practice time while keeping it fun. If you can afford to put in an hour/day most days, you will see rapid progress. But even 20 mins/day will yield steady results.

I teach:

  • Rock
  • Pop
  • Blues
  • Metal
  • Reggae
  • Fingerstyle
  • Songwriting
  • Playing while singing

Although the fundamentals apply to all styles, I do not specialize in:

  • Jazz
  • Classical

If your goal is to reach a high level in one of those styles, it’s very important to find a teacher who specializes in it.

Here are some of my favorite artists in alphabetical order:

AC/DC, Adele, Aerosmith, Alayna, Alter Bridge, Bach, Beethoven, Billy Joel, Black Sabbath, Blind Pilot, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Chopin, Coldplay, Daft Punk, Death Cab For Cutie, Debussy, Def Leppard, Dream Theater, Eagles, Grieg, Eric Whitacre, Fleetwood Mac, Frank Sinatra, Gary Moore, Green Day, Greta Van Fleet, Guns N’ Roses, Imagine Dragons, Jack Johnson, James Bay, Jeff Buckley, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Eat World, John Mayer, Joshua Radin, Larry Carlton, Led Zeppelin, Mahler, Marvin Gaye, Max Richter, Metallica, Motley Crue, Mozart, Muse, Norah Jones, Other Lives, Ozzy Osbourne, Pink Floyd, Queen, Rachmoninov, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., Robben Ford, Schumann, Sublime, Talking Heads, Tarrega, Tchaikovsky, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Cure, The Doors, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Killers, The Neighbourhood, The Strokes, The Struts, The War On Drugs, The Weeknd, The Who, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Tom Petty, Tom Quayle, Tommy Emmanuel, U2, Van Halen, Young The Giant, ZZ Top

NO! Many students started late into their years and actually became very good. You’ll likely be pleasantly surprised with your results.

Both private and small-group (2-3 students/group) lessons last 1 hour. Children ages 13 and under may do 30-minute lessons until they’re ready to move up.

I teach Tuesday-Friday, 10am-7pm and Saturday, 10am-6pm.

You should definitely start with whatever you’re most excited to play! After you’ve learned one, the other is pretty easy, because the layout and principles are the same.

If you’re equally excited about both, start with acoustic. It will develop your left-hand strength and efficiency more, so that when you pick up electric, you’ll have a nice head-start.

I’m always really excited to help my students choose gear. Ask me about my gear guide!
